Amy Skopp Cooper, Executive Director

Amy became executive director of Ramah Nyack after serving twenty years as the camp director. She also serves as the associate director of the National Ramah Commission. Ramah Nyack is proud of the fact that Amy is a recipient of the prestigious Covenant Award for Excellence in Jewish Education.

Previously, she worked as the education director of Congregation Bnai Israel in Millburn, NJ, and as assistant director of the Prozdor high school program at the Hebrew College in Boston. A graduate of Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Amy holds degrees in Jewish history and Jewish education, and received her master's degree from Brandeis University in Jewish education and communal service.

She is married to Rabbi Mark Cooper, spiritual leader of Oheb Shalom in South Orange, NJ and has five sons.

Rabbi Ami Hersh, Camp Director

Ami previously served as the associate director of Ramah Nyack from 2006-2017. Ami was ordained at The Jewish Theological Seminary with a concentration in Jewish non-profit management. He also received a master's degree in Jewish education from the Davidson School of Jewish Education at The Jewish Theological Seminary with a concentration in Israel education.  

Ami previously taught fourth grade at the Solomon Schechter School of Greater Hartford. A graduate of the University of Hartford, he holds degrees in Elementary Education and Judaic Studies. He is an alumnus of both the Wexner Graduate Fellowship and the iCenter Israel Education Fellowship, and is a previous winner of the Jewish Futures Competition.

He is married to Loni Hersh and has four children.

Michael Edelstein, Director of Finance and Operations

Michael brings to camp a wide range of business and management skills and is responsible for the finances and operations of the camp. As the founder of his own production and marketing company, Michael has worked at and organized events at venues such as Radio City Music Hall and the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Michael has an intimate knowledge of Ramah Nyack, where he began as a camper at age three. He is trained in cafeteria and food service management, pool operations, and overall facility management.

He is married to Amy Edelstein and has two children.

Marissa Sherman, Assistant Business Manager

Marissa graduated from the University of Rhode Island and studied textiles, merchandising and design. She worked in corporate retail for 16 years. Shortly after marrying her high school sweetheart and starting her family, Marissa worked for local Jewish non-profit organizations before beginning her new endeavor with Ramah Day Camp in Nyack. 

Marissa is married to Ian and has three children.

Jenna Roth, Office and Recruitment Coordinator

Jenna grew up in Rockland County and attended Solomon Schechter from Kindergarten through 12th grade, which inspired her deep passion for Jewish education. She recently graduated from Muhlenberg College where she double majored in Psychology and Jewish Studies, with a minor in Religion Studies. Last year, Jenna studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem as a Nachshon Project Fellow for selected Jewish leaders and aspiring Jewish professionals. Jenna has been a proud member of Camp Ramah in Nyack for seven years and most recently served as Rosh Edah of Kochavim. She is honored and excited to continue her journey with Ramah in her new position.

Dory Payne, Facilities Manager

Dory has been on staff at Ramah Day Camp in Nyack for 16 years. She has had a variety of roles including housekeeping, pre and post camp set-up and facility maintenance. Prior to camp Dory worked at St. Agatha’s Home for Children where she worked with children and families.

Dory lives in Suffern, NY with her husband Derrick and kids (camp summer staff members) Shaquille, T’keyah, Derrick and Nikolas. She enjoys football, cook-outs, baking, reading and goofing off with her kids. She also has 2 furbabies, Buddy and Peanut and a bird named Jet.
