Amy Skopp Cooper, Director

Amy is now serving in her twentieth year as director of the Ramah Day Camp in Nyack. She also serves as the associate director of the National Ramah Commission. Ramah Nyack is proud of the fact that Amy is a recipient of the prestigious Covenant Award for Excellence in Jewish Education.

Previously, she worked as the education director of Congregation Bnai Israel in Millburn, NJ, and as assistant director of the Prozdor high school program at the Hebrew College in Boston. A graduate of Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Amy holds degrees in Jewish history and Jewish education, and received her master's degree from Brandeis University in Jewish education and communal service.

She is married to Rabbi Mark Cooper, spiritual leader of Oheb Shalom in South Orange, NJ and has five sons.

Rabbi Ami Hersh, Associate Director

Ami has served as the associate director of Ramah Nyack since 2006, and has held various roles at camp since 2000. Ami was ordained at The Jewish Theological Seminary in May 2012 with a concentration in Jewish non-profit management. In 2013 he also received a master's degree in Jewish education from the Davidson School of Jewish Education at The Jewish Theological Seminary with a concentration in Israel education.  

Ami previously taught fourth grade at the Solomon Schechter School of Greater Hartford. A graduate of the University of Hartford, he holds degrees in Elementary Education and Judaic Studies. Ami was one of the winners of the 2012 Jewish Futures Competition. In addition, he is an alumnus of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship and an iCenter Israel Education Fellow.

He is married to Loni Hersh and has four children.

Michael Edelstein, Director of Finance and Operations

Michael brings to camp a wide range of business and management skills and is responsible for the finances and operations of the camp. As the founder of his own production and marketing company, Michael has worked at and organized events at venues such as Radio City Music Hall and the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Michael has an intimate knowledge of Ramah Nyack, where he began as a camper at age three. He is trained in cafeteria and food service management, pool operations, and overall facility management.

He is married to Amy Edelstein and has two children.

Andrew Topal, Associate Business Manager

Andrew holds degrees in Economics and Political Science from Binghamton University, where he was elected Hillel Student President and served as the student representative on Binghamton University's Council. He worked as a counselor and sgan rosh edah (assistant division head) at Ramah Nyack before serving as Special Projects Coordinator. Andrew is thrilled to be part of the year-round staff at Ramah Nyack as Operations Manager.

Ora Warmflash, Director of Development
Ora is a graduate of the Dual Degree program between Barnard College and The Jewish Theological Seminary and holds BA degrees in art history and rabbinic literature. She previously worked as a Major Gifts Officer at the Jewish Museum and has over 10 years of fundraising experience. Ora is an alum of Camp Ramah in the Berkshires and Camp Ramah in New England, and also served on staff at Ramah Nyack.

She is married to David Goldman and has two children.

Sara Winograd, Office and Recruitment Manager

Sara is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, with degrees in Jewish Studies and Psychology. Sara has spent six summers at Ramah Nyack, most recently as the Rosh Edah (division head) of Nitzanim (entering 2nd graders). Sara loves Ramah and we know that you will love speaking with her about camp!
