Etgar Ramah Staff Experience

Etgar Ramah, our residential Jewish learning and leadership institute for 250 young adults (a program for rising high school seniors and college students), annually brings together an exceptional group of national and international young Jewish leaders. At Ramah Nyack, young adults become architects of their own Jewish experiences.

Younger high school students, or those who are unable to live on the premises, are also encouraged to apply. In many cases, daily transportation will be provided from your home to Ramah via camper buses.

This model is the only one of its kind in North America.

During the day, the Etgar Ramah cohort serves as staff members for Ramah Nyack day campers. Once the campers depart at 4:00 PM, the cohort participates in an immersive Jewish experience designed for and by them. Etgar Ramah teaches Jewish leadership, offers an array of Jewish educational programs with renowned scholars, encourages Jewish creative and cultural exploration, and facilitates open dialogue about a host of significant Jewish topics and current events. Participants plan and lead a variety of social action projects, social activities, multiple choirs, drama productions and sport activities. Shabbat is joyfully celebrated as a young adult community. Etgar Ramah prepares young adults to assume professional and volunteer roles in the greater Jewish community and provides summer and year-round learning and teaching opportunities, internships and mentoring to its staff and alumni community.

Ramah Day Camp in Nyack is under the religious and educational supervision of the National Ramah Commision and The Jewish Theological Seminary. As such, staff are immersed in an observant, egalitarian Jewish environment, in a community which fosters a powerful connection to Jewish tradition, the Jewish people, and the State of Israel.

Think Etgar Ramah

at Ramah Nyack is the place for you?

It’s an honor to be part of Etgar Ramah at Ramah Nyack. Positions are limited so apply early!

The majority of Etgar Ramah participants are housed at camp over the summer. Staff quarters are comfortable and three kosher meals are provided daily. Residential Etgar Ramah participants must be entering their senior year of high school or older.

A summer at Ramah is not just another job! It is a partnership between the staff, the campers, and their families to build a bright Jewish future. The challenge is both exciting and rewarding. Etgar Ramah participants work hard, but ultimately feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment for having impacted Jewish youth in a significant way.
