Summer 2022, Week 3

Nevatim

Nevatimers had an incredible third week at camp! We are so proud of the amazing job they did singing at Zimriyah. We were so thankful to spend such an incredible evening with you on Wednesday! Our campers were also busy at StarLab in Park Mada. StarLab is an inflatable planetarium exhibit that is visiting camp for a couple of weeks. In bishul bachutz, campers made banana boats, and they also built with blocks in makers, beaded bracelets in maayan, played soccer, and enjoyed gymnastics.

Kochavim

Campers had a nadeer week in Kochavim! As you know, we spent a lot of time at the beginning of the summer preparing for Zimriyah, and our efforts paid off on Wednesday. Our campers did an incredible job, and they loved seeing their parents in camp! This week, we also spent time at Park Mada checking out the StarLab exhibit that is visiting camp. In bishul we made Israeli salad, as well as sundaes, and campers also enjoyed playing soccer and swimming. In Shiur, Kochavim campers continued learning about the days of Creation and were treated to a short skit based on the Talmud about the sun, moon, and the stars (Day 4). We ended the week by enjoying the Ramah Performs show.

Shorashim

Shorashim’s third week was incredible, and we are so proud of our campers’ Zimriyah performace! It was wonderful to see all of our Shorashim families back at camp to share such a special night. In Park Mada, campers also got to experience StarLab, the inflatable planetarium exhibit that is visiting camp for the next couple of weeks. In Shiur, Shorashim continued its study of Genesis by carefully carrying water to their camels, just like Rivka did. We’ve been learning our camp dances in rikkud, and we also continued working on our firefly projects in omanut. And, today (Friday), we watched the Ramah Performs show!

Nitzanim

Nitzanim had an incredible third week! Our campers loved Zimriyah and, as you saw on Wednesday, their hard work and practice really paid off in an amazing performance. We are so proud of our campers! Nitzanimers also practiced hitting the bullseye in archery, played capture the flag, made bananas and apples at bishul bachutz, and went ziplining in migdal. In Park Mada, campers learned about constellations in the StarLab inflatable planetarium that is visiting camp for the next couple of weeks. In Shiur, Nitzanim’s study of Exodus continued as they crossed the Sea of Reeds, timbrels in hand, after making the acquaintance with Nachshon ben Aminadav. Their crossing was successful, including a refreshing spritz from the sprinkler. And finally, on Friday, we watched the Ramah Performs show!

Solelim

Solelim had an amazing third week of camp! Our campers were practicing singing with a 10/10 volume for Zimriyah, and they did an incredible job! Before the show, we had a great time at the magic show and heard a lot of “How did he do that?!” from our campers. We are having an awesome time at robotics with the 3D printer. This week, campers enjoyed watching the stars in the StarLab, an inflatable planetarium exhibit that is visiting camp. We continued working on firefly art at omanut, and campers can’t wait to take them home. In Shiur, Solelim campers in the Ramah Run Challenge took their first crack at crossing the desert together as a nation while remaining in formation on Shvil Ramah. We also had a Yom Where is Ziz (our peacock mascot doll), where the campers spent the day looking for him around camp. We found out the next day that Ziz was keeping an eye on camp from on top of Park Mada. Every bunk has now spent the day with Ziz, documenting their day in Ziz’s journal.

Tzeirim

What a week we had! Tzeirimers were incredible at Wednesday’s Zimriyah. We were so happy to welcome all of you back to camp and hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did. Not only did our campers love Zimriyah, but they also loved the activities before it, including human Mario Kart, a third swim, a magician, and Tzeirim vs Nevonim “minute to win it.” Migdal has been a nadeer highlight, and our campers continue to love their bechirot. Our campers loved “Yom Purim in July,” where we got mishloach manot, dressed up our madrichim in silly costumes, and did some special Purim peulot at tefillah.

Nevonim

We had such a great week together in Nevonim! Our campers’ practice really showed, and they did an incredible job at Zimriyah. They loved performing for you! This week we also spent time at bishul, bishul bachutz, migdal, and etz. A highlight of the week was welcoming parents for our Torah reading on Thursday. We talked about the blessing for challah and decorated challah covers. This week in Shiur, campers in the elective “Bonim Builders,” built Sukkot out of graham crackers, pretzel rods, and icing – very tasty! They also visited the giant blue blocks by the playground to construct the gates of Jerusalem.

Chalutzim & Bogrim

Bogrim campers had an amazing week! Singing and dancing at Zimriyah was a huge highlight for us. Our campers were so excited to perform for you! We had a lot of pool time this week, including an extra pre-Zimriyah free swim, which campers really enjoyed. Campers have also been practicing their gaga skills and enjoying migdal. We decided on our edah educational theme: food waste. We’re discussing ways to handle food waste by reducing, donating, and composting. We also had an alternative tefillah service, where campers shared personally about the superpowers (blessings) they each have in their lives.

Sha’ar

What a nadeer week for Sha’ar! We were so proud of all of our chanichim and madrichim who sang their hearts out at Zimriyah. It was wonderful to see so many families here at camp on Wednesday night! This week our younger campers explored regashot (feelings) through the Israeli book, “Lifamim,” (sometimes). They discussed how lifamim they feel sameach (happy) and lifamim they feel atzuv (sad). Sometimes they feel coes (angry) and sometimes they feel tipshi (silly). Older campers practiced lots of verbs this week such as livnot (to build), lifarek (to pull), and lehachin (to prepare), among others.

All of Sha’ar loved seeing the kochavim (stars) and mazalot (constellations) in the StarLab at Park Mada this week! They sat chashuch (in the darkness) and discussed the shamayim (sky), shemesh (sun), and yareach (moon). Chanichim also enjoyed using their mealtime milim (words) this week: asking their madrichim to pass them more tapuchei adama afuyim (baked potatoes), chili (chili!), gevina (cheese), gevinat shamenet (sour cream), and lasagna mexicanit (Mexican lasagna).
