Gideon Levin
Staff Recognition Award for 25 Summers
It all began during the kayitz (summer) of 2000, when Gideon arrived at Ramah Nyack to join the tzevet (staff) as a counselor in Nevonim. During that first summer on staff, many of the staff members Gideon met (among them, Rabbi Ami Hersh), would quickly become lifelong chaverim (friends). In addition to developing meaningful relationships, Gideon discovered his passion for Jewish education while at camp, and he credits both Ami, and former Ramah Nyack Director and CEO of the National Ramah Commission (NRC) Amy Skopp Cooper, with helping to guide his professional pursuits.Benay Josselson

In 2017, Benay returned to camp once again to support the Communications team, working during the summer and part-time throughout the following year.Benay is the proud mother of two sons, Rafi (18) and Ben (15), who have followed in the family’s Ramah tradition. Rafi works at Ramah Nyack and participates in its vocational program. He is also an Autistic speaker and advocate for neuroinclusion within the Jewish community. Ben is spending his second-to-last summer at Camp Ramah in the Poconos.

Simone and Rabbi Jesse Nagelberg
Young Leadership Award
Simone (Nachman) NagelbergSimone began her journey at Ramah Nyack in 2015 as an Edah (division) Assistant in Nitzanim (entering 2nd grade), traveling from Stamford, CT, each day as a bus counselor. At camp, Simone found a community of friends that embraced her for simply being herself, and a place where she could explore her evolving Jewish practice.
Rabbi Jesse NagelbergIn 2012, having recently graduated from Golda Och Academy, Jesse arrived at Ramah Day Camp in Nyack, expecting to spend just one summer at camp. A few days into Shavuah Hachanah (staff training week), Jesse called home and informed his parents that he had found a community he wanted to be part of for many years to come.
