What kinds of jobs are available?

The majority of our staff members work as counselors or lifeguards, however there are several different types of openings available at camp – support roles in maintenance or the kitchen; specialists in the arts, sports or nature, etc. And, we are always looking to broaden our camp offerings! Let us know if you have Red Cross certification for swim, teaching experience, or other skills that could benefit the camp community.

What can I do at camp after my workday ends?

Your own growth and wellbeing are of prime importance to us and we want to be certain that the summer experience is resoundingly positive for you. You will have opportunities to participate in programs that are meaningful, educational, recreational, and entertaining. Once campers have departed for the day, you can swim, compete in a sports league, learn Krav Maga, study text with fellow staff or chevruta-style, sing with an a cappella group, join a Zumba class, practice your Hebrew with a member of the Mishlachat (Israeli staff corps), and so much more.

Are there any required staff activities?

Residential staff are required to attend many programs and lectures throughout the summer. Events are posted at the beginning of each week.

Can I spend Shabbat at camp?

A Shabbat at Ramah Nyack is an incredible experience filled with song, dance, spirited davening, engaging discussion, and plenty of delicious food! Residential staff are required to spend the first Shabbat (during Shavua Hachana – Staff Training Week) and the last Shabbat at Ramah. In addition, residential staff members must choose two or more Shabbatot during the summer to remain at camp.

Do I have any days off?

Staff members are generally free to enjoy Sundays off. During Shavua Hachana, however, staff are required to remain in camp on Sunday for important training.

Can I bring a car to camp?

Residential staff who are entering their first year of college or older may have vehicles at camp for after-hours use.
