Prospective Families
Your campers had an exciting and busy week at camp! Maccabiah was a big hit, with colorful relay races and team activities. Beyond the fun of Maccabiah, the chanichim challenged themselves on the low ropes and in gymnastics, feeling proud of every success. In Teva (Nature), they explored the shaded creek, and in Bishul Bachutz (outdoor cooking), they made delicious banana donuts and at Bishul (cooking) enjoyed refreshing lemonada garus (slushy lemonade) with homemade hummus and pita. In Omanut (art), Nevatim made cool moving art using tape, paint, and shapes, inspired by Israeli artist Yaacov Agam. At Park Mada, they explored light, discovering that mixing red, green, and blue light makes white and had fun wearing diffraction glasses that turned everything into a rainbow. In Shiur, Nevatim learned all about the song “Eretz Yisrael Sheli” (My Israel). When we talked about building a bayit (house), campers made their own houses using model magic clay, and when we talked about planting in Israel, everyone got to plant agvaniyot (tomato seeds) to take home. We also talked about how waiting for the plants to grow takes time and patience! Throughout the week, during the Yamim Chamim (hot days) campers stayed cool with extra swim time, sprinklers, and inflatables!
What a chalom (dreamy) week in Kochavim! We, along with the rest of the camp, were split into different color teams representing 4 different Israeli landmarks, the Ganim Bahaim (green), the Kinneret (blue), Machtesh Ramon (red) and the Kotel (yellow). We had so much fun participating in activities for the camp’s annual Maccabiah! We had “fill the bucket” competitions in the pool, relay races, banner making and so much more! As always, this week we had tefillah and cheered our hearts out. Kochavim made delicious banana donuts in bishul bachutz (outdoor cooking). In Bishul (cooking), chanichim stayed refreshed with delicious limonada garus (slushy lemonade) and snacked on homemade hummus and pita, a yummy Israeli style chatif (snack). In Teva (nature), chanichim enjoyed exploring the shaded creek. Kochavim also worked hard at improving their skills on the soccer field and the low ropes course! In Shiur, Kochavim are learning about the days of creation. We used scratch art, games, and science experiments to demonstrate different parts of the Creation story. This week in Omanut (art), we explored the colorful, shifting artwork of Israeli artist Yaacov Agam, creating our own moving art using tape, paint, and shapes. In Park Mada, campers had so much fun learning all about light! They discovered that red, green, and blue are the primary light colors, and that mixing them creates white. The highlight? Wearing diffraction glasses that turned everything into rainbows! Throughout the week, during the Yamim Chamim (hot days) campers stayed cool with extra swim times, sprinklers, and inflatables!
Maccabiah this week was a total chalom! Your children did their absolute best to support their teams all around camp! Campers participated in all kinds of sports competitions and creative team projects! The best part was the big lower camp relay where they crab-walked, built cup towers, and passed hula hoops! Everyone had a blast working together, and they showed off their ruach (spirit) by cheering loudly for their teams the entire day! This week in Omanut (art), we learned about Israeli artist Yaacov Agam, who creates art that changes as you move. Inspired by his cool, colorful style, we used tape, paint, and shapes to make our own moving-looking art. The creativity continued at Teva (nature), as the chanichim enjoyed decorating silly pinecones friends! In Shiur, we learned about Abraham and Sarah and how they welcomed guests into their tent. After discussing what it takes to be a good host and a good guest, each bunk took turns “hosting” or “visiting” while sharing snacks and time together. During the Yamim Chamim (hot days), campers stayed cool with extra swim time, extra fun on the water inflatable and lots of water bucket fun, including pouring water on their counselors! Shorashim also beat the heat with indoor games like pinball in the air-conditioned Ramot Gym!
Maccabiah this week was a total chalom! Chanichim participated in relay races to help their Maccabiah teams: they crab-walked, hopped in potato sacks, passed giant space balls “over and under,” and raced with hula hoops. The energy and teamwork were amazing! Throughout the week, as always, campers kept busy with creativity and challenges. In gymnastics, they tackled an obstacle course, and in Omanut (art), Nitzanim learned about Israeli artist Yaacov Agam, who creates art that changes when you move. Inspired by his colorful, playful style, campers used tape, paint, and shapes to make their own “moving” masterpieces! They made delicious banana donuts in bishul bachutz (outdoor cooking) and stayed cool at Bishul (cooking) with limonada garus (slushy lemonade) served with homemade hummus and pita, an Israeli-style snack! In Park Mada, campers learned all about light. They discovered that the primary colors in light are red, green, and blue (not the same as paint!). They were amazed to learn that mixing all three makes white light, and loved wearing diffraction glasses that turned the world into rainbows! In Shiur, we went on a scavenger hunt to find the ten plagues from the Exodus story. While “leaving Egypt” we made timbrels to shake and ran through the “sea” (a sprinkler!). During the Yamim Chamim (hot days), campers stayed cool with extra swim time, sprinklers and the very popular inflatable slip-and-slide!
Solelim had a total chalom (dreamy) week at camp during Maccabiah! Campers were full of energy as they raced kayaks in the pool, ran relays on the migrash, and played classic games like the egg-and-spoon and three-legged races. They cheered loudly and had so much fun working together with their teams! The fun continued all week. In gymnastics, campers took on exciting obstacle courses. In Omanut (art), they explored the work of Israeli artist Yaacov Agam, who creates art that changes as you move around it. Inspired by his colorful and creative style, Solelim used tape, paint, and shapes to make their own moving-looking artwork. In Bishul Bachutz (outdoor cooking), they whipped up banana donuts and cooled off at Bishul (cooking) with limonada garus (slushy lemonade) served with homemade hummus and pita, a yummy Israeli-style snack! At Park Mada, the chanichim learned the basics of coding using a Sphero robot to play gaga. They programmed the Sphero robots to move around the pit in different ways. They tested their code in a real gaga game, learning how to control speed, direction, and patterns. It was a fun, hands-on introduction to explore robotics and programming! In Shiur, campers participated in different electives, watched a play about Jerusalem and enjoyed “Zman Yisrael” (Israel Time) with fun Israel themed games and bracelet making.
Maccabiah this week was an absolute chalom! Everyone gave their best – cheering, making banners, and racing in fun relays like the egg-and-spoon race and a t-shirt pass with upper camp. Everyone had such a great time! The energy stayed high all week with lots of water play, including the water inflatable and extra swims during the Yamim Chamim (hot days). We also enjoyed rikkud (dancing) on the Migrash and picked up new ping pong skills. In Omanut (art), we learned about Israeli artist Yaacov Agam, who creates art that changes when you move. Inspired by his colorful and creative style, we made our own art using tape, paint, and shapes. Campers loved how their creations looked different from every angle! For Tefillah electives, campers had the option to make Shabbat-o-grams to share kind messages with friends. At Oneg, after saying brachot (blessings) and enjoying challah and grape juice, we had fun working together on a special Shabbat puzzle.

Sha’ar
We had another amazing shavua (week) in Sha’ar, and we can’t believe it is already the end of week 6! The true highlight this week was, of course, Maccabiah! Sha’ar campers got to use their tzva’im (colors) vocabulary for the arba kvutzot (four teams): adom (red), kachol (blue), yarok (green), and tzahov (yellow). Each team represented an Israeli landmark, the Ganim Bahaim (green), the Kinneret (blue), the Machtesh Ramon (red) and the Kotel (yellow). Sha’ar campers loved participating in the tacharuyot (competitions) at the brecha (pool), at bishul (cooking), on the migrash, and all over camp. They felt so much pride seeing their madrichim selected to be captanim (captains) of the different teams and had hamon kef (so much fun) playing all of the different mischakim (games) throughout the day! This week, different edot enjoyed many camp peulot (activities) where they made: a Magen David (Jewish Star) using tzivay maym (water colors) and devek (glue) in omanut (art), handmade kearot (bowls) or mezuzot in keramica (ceramics), and machzik mapiot/sefarim (holders for napkins or bentchers) in etz (woodworking).
