Prospective Families
This week in Nevatim, our campers stayed busy with exciting activities every day! On the low ropes course, Nevatim had a blast climbing tire swings and learning how a seesaw works. We also had so much fun in Park Mada, exploring STEM activities and engaging our curious minds. During sports, campers enjoyed playing soccer and softball. In bishul bachutz (outdoor cooking), we made delicious chocolate pita, such a yummy treat! Nevatim campers love exploring the water. Swim lessons and pool time continue to be a highlight of the day for many of our campers. In ma’ayan (beading), we got into the July 4th spirit by creating festive bracelets using red, white, and blue beads.
What a fun and exciting week it’s been in Kochavim! Campers got creative with their counselors in ma’ayan (beading) and omanut (art), making stained glass windows craft inspired by the art of Marc Chagall. We challenged ourselves on the low ropes course and had a blast in Park Mada to explore STEM activities, especially when some of us made their own slime! In bishul bachutz (outdoor cooking), we made fresh delicious pita. Some friends even got to spread chocolate on top for a sweet treat, while others chose to make yummy banana s’mores! Kochavim campers are loving exploring the water, playing with friends, and learning from their amazing instructors.
Shorashim campers kicked off Monday morning by joining the entire camp for a beautiful Havdallah, setting the tone for an incredible week ahead! Each morning begins with rikud (dancing) on the migrash, and the Shorashim have been loving learning all the moves and dancing together. Throughout the week, we’ve played lots of getting-to-know-you games and have begun learning our special Shorashim cheers and the tefillot using fun hand motions. Our creativity has been flowing all week long! In omanut (art), we explored the work of Marc Chagall through a sensory art experience using paint and various materials. In ma’ayan (beading), we made beaded bracelets, necklaces, and even sunglasses holders in red, white, and blue in celebration of the 4th of July! We also crafted our own mini American flags to help us get into the holiday spirit. At Park Mada, we explored basic concepts of engineering and physics—starting with building our very own marble runs!
Chanichim (campers) had a fun-filled, creative week in Nitzanim! In omanut (art), we worked on a fun project decorating fairy light jars inspired by the art of Marc Chagall. At the pool, we were introduced to our lifeguards and started instructional swim. Swim lessons are a highlight for many of our campers! We also learned the basics of archery, and we had a blast in soccer playing many games of campers vs counselors! In bishul bachutz (outdoor cooking), we made pita bread, and we even added yummy chocolate sauce.
Solelim campers had such a busy week! In omanut (art), campers decorated fairy light jars inspired by the stained glass art of Marc Chagall. They loved combining color and light to make something truly unique. During sports, we stayed active and had a blast playing soccer, basketball, and high-energy gaga games! In bishul bachutz (outdoor cooking), we made our own delicious snack: fresh pita bread with an extra sweet, yummy chocolate sauce for dipping or spreading. Solelim also love learning the migrash dances and starting the day with great energy.
Tzeirim campers explored their bechira (elective) options and started having fun in the activities they’re most passionate about. They continue practicing their songs for next week’s Zimriyah. During sports, campers learned new tennis skills. In bishul bachutz (outdoor cooking) and made delicious chocolate pita. In ma’ayan (beading), we beaded sunglasses holders and bracelets using red white and blue beads in honor of the Fourth of July. We celebrated Oneg Shabbat by doing a special Shabbat word search. We are looking forward to seeing you at Zimriyah next week!
We had a great week in Nevonim! Chanichim (campers) were eager to begin their bechirot (electives) and everyone completed their swim tests. This week Nevonim played ping-pong, learned the basics of archery, and began a fun ceramics project—creating a Bruchim HaBaim (Welcome) sign! On Thursday, we introduced our weekly Torah reading program. It’s volunteer-based, and chanichim can sign up to read 3–4 psukim (verses) each week.
This week, Bogrim campers jumped into bechira (electives) for the first time this summer, and everyone is finding activities they love! In bishul bachutz (outdoor cooking), we had a blast making fresh delicious pita and even adding some sweet toppings. In omanut (art), we explored the stained glass windows of Marc Chagall and used them as inspiration to create beautiful fairy light jars. At Etz (woodworking), campers enjoyed hands-on time building a box to hold either candles or a sevivon (draidel). Some campers preferred to design their own projects like a birdhouse or tried solving woodworking challenges, such as turning a cube into a ball! We also loved exploring the engineering tools in Park Mada. Last Friday, during Oneg Shabbat, each camper received their own personal siddur for the summer. They had a special opportunity to decorate and personalize it—making it truly their own.
Sha’ar
Sha’ar chanichim and madrichim are using their Hebrew vocabulary during all of their daily peulot (activities): omanut (art), ma’ayan (beading), chetz v’keshet (archery), teva (nature), bishul (cooking), kadoor-sal (basketball), kadoor-regel (soccer), bishul bachutz (outdoor cooking), ceramika (ceramics), rikkud (dancing), tennis, and schiyya b’breicha (swimming in the pool).
Chanichim continue to use their food and meal-related vocabulary as they ask their madrichim (counselors) for the food they would like to eat for each meal (including snacks!). This week they focused on using a salachat (plate) v’masleg (fork) v’mapit (napkin) to eat the various lunch foods: pizza (pizza), macaroni v’gvina (mac ‘n’ cheese) and naknikiyot for Yom Ha’atzmaut (hot dogs for Independence Day)! Younger campers spent the week practicing words for structures such as bayit (home) and gesher (bridge) as well as various chayot (animals): kelev (dog), chatul (cat), dov (bear) and devorah (bee). They also get to choose which kind of crackers they want for snack: kraker matok (graham crackers) or kraker maluach (salted circle crackers).
